There may be a fee if addtional assistance to safely carry your pet out of your home is needed.
We are here to answer your questions every day, from 7am - 11pm. Appointments are scheduled throughout the week, please call for availability.

If this is a medical emergency, please contact your local veterinarian or one of the emergency clinics listed in the Local Resources section.
Isaac Martinez, DVM
Born and raised in Pembroke, North Carolina, a small southern town, I developed my strong love for animals. I attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where I earned degrees in both a Bachelors of Science and a Masters of Science. I continued my education at Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine, where I attained my Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Throughout my life, the human/animal bond significantly contributed to my drive and ambition to help animals and their human counterparts. Without a doubt, the veterinary field is my calling and passion. I am committed to providing quality care and medicine to all of my "furry friends”. Like many others, I have experienced animal suffering and end stage disease processes that ultimately lead to death. These memories fuel my drive to help those animals in their last days, and make sure they are as comfortable and happy as possible. For this reason, I joined the Lap of Love Family.
I recall a memory that really left a lasting impression on me that I would like to share. Like many young boys growing up in rural North Carolina, farming and agriculture was a normalcy. One day my father brought home this beautiful sorrel quarter horse mare with perfect white stockings on her legs and an amazing white stripe down her face. She was my first horse and her name was “Gal”. As an added bonus, she had an identically beautiful foal at her side that stole all of our hearts. I poured all of my extra energy and time into Gal and baby Vandy, which forged a very strong bond between us. Many years later, as a teenager, I was doing my daily chores on the farm when I noticed something was not quite right with my little girl Vandy. Vandy contracted a fatal neurological disease that made her lose all sense of her surroundings and caused her to sustain some really serious self-trauma. The images and sounds surrounding this experience will forever be in my mind. But in these traumatic, emotional, and life changing events, what really was impressed upon me, is the relief that was given to her from my veterinarian. I watched all of her pain and suffering go away, and in her final moments she was a peace. This experience affirmed that the veterinary profession is where I belong, because I too wanted to relieve her pain and suffering, and I want to be able to do that for any terminally ill pets that need it.
My journey of becoming a veterinarian was like a meandering river, at each new bend and turn in the river, new challenges and adventures were there. I played college football, joined a fraternity, got a Masters degree, worked with Salmon mitigation in Idaho, did Piping Plover surveys in Rhode Island, and even taught high school biology. Through all these twists and turns in life, I never gave up on my dream to be a veterinarian, and now here I am today as Dr. Isaac.
I now reside in Miami Florida to be close to family. I currently do not have a pet, but there will be one in my near future. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and loved ones. I also love to mountain bike, hike, camp, play sports and enjoy a nice relaxing day on the beach. I take any opportunity that I have to travel and experience other cultures and cuisines.
I look forward to helping as many families as I can by allowing your final moments with your cherished pets to be spent in comfort while in their happy place, your home with the ones they love the most.
"My Beautiful Sweet Priscilla got sick and we did not want to watch her suffer anymore. She was a part of our family for 11 years.
The decision to let her go to the Rainbow Bridge is never an easy one, but Dr. Isaac from Lap Of Love was just so amazing. His compassion, kindness and caring helped us including Priscilla get through this most difficult time. Even our Prissy felt comfortable with Dr. Isaac, by even giving him her paw when he arrived that evening.
She was surrounded by love at the end and went so peacefully. Even Dr. Isaac was on the floor with us all. Talking to us and to her and rubbing her soft belly. This is the Ultimate gift of LOVE.. you can give to a member of your family. We wanted to say Thank you to Lap of Love for having such Wonderful Doctors on their staff and especially for Dr. Isaac Martinez who is just such a Special Person. It is so nice to know that such a Wonderful Organization exist."

"Sammy, our 16 year old Chihuahua was suffering with congestive heart failure and had taken a turn for the worse in recent days. He was lethargic, was losing weight and had fainting spells. Yesterday we decided it was his time. I called Lap of Love about 10 AM and spoke with a very understanding counselor. She advised us that Dr. Martinez could be at our home between 12 and 1 pm. He arrived just when he was expected and was so kind and gentle with our little monster. Sammy really did look like he had just gone to sleep. The paw print impression he left with us was a lovely touch. Thank you."
