Lap of Love Veterinarian: Charlotte Hotchkiss, DVM"I am so grateful to Lap of Love for the tender care Dr. Ashleigh and Dr. Charlotte showed to us. This was one the hardest things I have ever had to do and I thank you for making it something that could be at home where Max was not scared and we could all be with him and hold him as he let go."Claire LeBeauSeattle, WashingtonFebruary 27, 2017Max's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Charlotte Hotchkiss, DVM"Dr. Hotchkiss was amazing. She was so kind and gentle. She assured us that Shinji would find the peace that he and we were looking for for him. Dr. Hotchkiss' gentle voice and demeanor really helped us, me especially, to feel that Shinji wouldn't and didn't feel a thing and that we made the right decision. I do not think that without her, we would have been able to help Shinji ease his pain and suffering in such a peaceful way."Tracy CSeattle, WashingtonJanuary 17, 2017Mr. shinji pink's Pet Memorial

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashleigh Rhoades, DVM"Helping my Mario cross the rainbow bridge was one of the toughest things I had to do, even having lost 5 pets growing up. He was all my own, and my absolute best buddy. And he was having such a great day the day that I called Laps of Love. Cheryl, who took my call, gently guided me through the process, and was kind, patient and understanding, as I fought back tears while providing the information she needed. It took everything in me, especially the last hour before Dr Ashleigh arrived, to not call and beg her not to come. But I didn't. And when she arrived, she kindly walked me through what was going to happen, and gave me and Mario the space and patience to go through it at our pace. I appreciated that so much, and I felt he was loved an cared for, so much, by everyone who helped in the process.

For those struggling with the choice, know that now I am glad he had a good day, on his last day ... a happy memory, instead of seeing him struggle. I'll always want one more hour, day, week, month, but he didn't have to suffer. And I promised him I'd always protect him, and I did that by helping him transition in the easiest way possible. I think he gave me a God wink, too, after the fact. Because in the days that followed, there were two dogs who burned up in fire, another two that were stung/killed by killer bees, and yet another that suffocated when a potato chip bag suctioned around it's head. It made me realize that he got to go peacefully and protected. I would've been even more devasted had he passed in a painful way. Thank you, Dr. Ashleigh, and Laps of Love, for helping me."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashleigh Rhoades, DVM"I have always considered helping pets at the end of life to be an honor and privilege as well as the most painful responsibility. Dr. Ashleigh was so very tender and kind with Mushka and listened compassionately to her story. She validated our feeling that now was the time and she set Mushka free with great dignity for her as an individual, for us as a family and for the process of ending suffering. I wish I had known about Lap of Love for my other companion animals. Mushka was helped gently and lovingly on to her reunion with my parents and we will all be together again one day."Mary KiefferMaple Valley, WashingtonDecember 19, 2016
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashleigh Rhoades, DVM"Dr. Ashleigh,
I am sorry I didn't thank you in person. Thank you for coming to our home tonight and helping us with this very difficult decision. My family and I really appreciate the time you gave us and the gentle way you handled our sweet Kamee. This was one of the hardest things I have ever done, but knowing and seeing that she is now at peace gives me comfort.

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashleigh Rhoades, DVM"This was the last thing we could do for our sweet dog. It was at home, surrounded by her family, peaceful and painless. Ashleigh was wonderful and walked us through everything. I am so grateful for this service. I knew our Panzer was in good hands and everything would be handled professionally. Thank You so much Lap of Love & Ashleigh."John & Heather FarrarSeattle, WashingtonDecember 15, 2016
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashleigh Rhoades, DVM"Ashleigh was amazing from the time she got to our house until she walked out the door. She was very soft spoken which helped keep my emotions a little more in check and most importantly, kept Gemini calm. Ashleigh made sure to talk us through what was happening as we went through each step and made sure we had enough time with our fur baby before she gently wrapped her in a blanket and placed her delicately in a wicker basket. I was so thankful that she was so gentle with Gemini even after she had passed."Heather PhelpsEverett, WashingtonNovember 17, 2016Gemini's Pet Memorial

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashleigh Rhoades, DVM"My husband Paul and I would like to thank Dr. Ashleigh Rhoades for her expert and compassionate care with our girl Ellie. Ellie always hated the trips to the vet so we knew in home euthanasia was the route for both her and us.

We can't say enough about this service. It made very difficult time a smooth and beautiful, respectful process.

Many thanks,
Lynne and Paul"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashleigh Rhoades, DVM"What a wonderful service! Our ancient dog turn a sudden turn for the worse on a Friday night. I was worried that I would not be able to get in-home care over the weekend. We contacted Lap of Love and arranged for a Saturday afternoon visit. After a day lying on the porch, watching and sniffing the outdoors, Clyde passed peacefully in our living room, his head on my lap. Dr. Ashleigh was warm, gentle, and respectful - as well as prompt and efficient. I could not have asked for a sweeter ending for Clyde."Barbara HoltSeattle, WashingtonSeptember 18, 2016
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashleigh Rhoades, DVM"I've had Jack since 2000 when I was given him and his brother, Goliath, both about one year old. They were the first pets I had as an adult, though we always had a cat growing up in my house. Jack was the consummate cat and definitely the alpha, though not in an aggressive way. He was also very friendly, getting to know the neighbors wherever we lived. I think Jack had more friends in our neighborhood on Capitol Hill than I did!

There are so many wonderful things to say about Jack that I could go on for quite some time. However, what was especially comforting was to have his last day, his last moments to be in his home, surrounded by his family. His brother, Goliath, passed away at the vets, after his kidney failure went into crisis mode. That was a stressful and trying day. With Jack, seeing his lung cancer gradually decrease his activity level, his food intake and his desire for companionship, it was much better to be able to plan the moment of his passing.

Dr. Ashleigh was the best person I could have asked for to have at this most difficult time. She was caring, kind and patient, allowing us to take our time and decide when it was time. There was also the thoughtful memento of a lock of his hair and paw print; I will treasure these items and they have a special place on our fireplace mantel.

I would highly recommend Lap of Love to anyone who has to make this difficult decision.

Best Regards,

Robert Dorgan"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashleigh Rhoades, DVM"We will forever be indebted to Dr. Ashleigh for her kindness and compassion with our 16 1/2 year old Min Pin, Charles. He was a rescue dog who we adopted at age 14, and although he was only with us for 2 years, Dr. Ashleigh immediately sensed and understood the bond we had with Charles and how important it was for him to be at home, his forever home, when the time came. It takes a very special person to help people and animals at such a time of heartbreak, and Dr. Ashleigh is definitely one of those special people. And we greatly appreciated her checking in the following day and sending a beautiful sympathy card with such heartfelt condolences. Charles was diagnosed with cognitive behavior disorder (dementia) shortly after we adopted him, and while his care became very involved, he was such a loving, spirited creature until the very end, and Dr. Ashleigh saw that, and honored that spirit. Each day we had with Charles was a gift, he taught us so much about determination, love and trust, and he now will live forever in our hearts. Bless all of the vets who work with Lap of Love, and thank you, Dr. Ashleigh, for easing our loss as much as humanly possible.
Sincerely,
Tamara & Bonnie"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashleigh Rhoades, DVM"Dr. Ashleigh was very kind of compassionate it helping my husband and myself through this very difficult decision and process. She gave us the time that we needed to say goodbye, and to do so in our own way. We were so grateful to have her do this for us in the comfort of Sam's home. Sam absolutely hated being at the vet's office, and we couldn't bear the idea of him spending his last moments there. We are very thankful for the gentle and dignified way in which she helped ease his pain, and how she helped us face those final heart-wrenching moments."Sara IvesSeattle, WashingtonAugust 14, 2016Sam's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashleigh Rhoades, DVM"Thank you Dr Ashleigh,
I can't express how grateful I am for your help and presence during a time I was very unsure and conflicted. The process was more peaceful then I could have hoped for and I am so glad Kramer was able to pass in our home. As crushed as I feel now, I know it was time and take acceptance knowing he is no longer in discomfort. I commend you for the service you choose to help people with.
Be well,
Gregory"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashleigh Rhoades, DVM"When we had to make the difficult decision to let our ailing 15 year old dog Nikita go, we knew she'd be more comfortable passing in her own home. Lap of Love was able to schedule an appointment with a very caring and supportive vet to make this possible. Dr. Rhoades was compassionate, understood our grief and gave us as much time as we needed both before and after. She explained the entire process, not moving forward at any point until we had our questions or concerns answered. She gave our sweet dog a comfortable end that honored her life, she was able to be at home, in her favorite spot being held by me and my husband as she passed. Dr. Rhoades helped us through that most difficult decision.
After Nikita had passed, she took an imprint of her paw for us as a memento. A few days later we received a very kind card.
Anyone who has lost a pet understands that the extreme emotions involved can be embarrassing and highly personal. She treated us with respect and gave me the ability to say goodbye to my puppy-girl in the way we both needed.
Thank you, Dr. Rhoades. You were absolutely amazing."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashleigh Rhoades, DVM"Dr. Ashleigh was so wonderful. She came to our house and explained what would happen to us and also played with our other dogs. We chose her because even looking at her picture, she had "good juju". I know some of you will find that weird, but I swear by it, especially where our dogs are concerned. I would also like to say that Colby Griffin was wonderful to me on the phone. Everything went very quietly and Riley was out of pain within moments. We all really like Dr. Ashleigh and plan to use her services in the future with our other pets."Lisa LambertLake Stevens, WashingtonAugust 5, 2016Riley's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Ashleigh Rhoades, DVM"I was very concerned about putting Taffy through any unnecessary stress and anxiety - she hated trips to the vet. I began looking into having an at home euthanasia, which is how I came across Lap of Love. Dr. Ashleigh was great during this very sad time. She arrived promptly on time, and her calm demeanor and soothing tone really helped me relax and gave me strength. She was very gentle with Taffer, and I could sense that she genuinely wanted to help us. First thing she did was reach out to Taffer and let her smell her hand, then she proceeded to pet my fur baby, and I was comforted by her interaction with my precious kitty. Dr. Ashleigh walked me through the process, and we took each step at the pace I was comfortable with. After the painkiller and sedative injection I was petting Taffer and Dr. Ashleigh said to her "Mom is right here..." I loved that she was aware of the fact that this is not a pet...this is a family member. The entire time Taffer was very comfortable, there was no fear, she purred from the beginning to the end. She left this world peacefully while laying on her favorite scratcher, with me petting her. Afterward we put her body in a wicker basket with a plush purple blanket, provided by Dr. Ashleigh, and she made it a point to make sure Taffy was cozy during her trip with Dr. Ashleigh. Having experienced at home euthanasia I will definitely never go back to having it done at a veterinary hospital. I am very grateful for Dr. Ashleigh's kindness and sympathy during this difficult time."Anya BykovaFederal Way, WashingtonAugust 4, 2016Taffy (taffer)'s Pet Memorial
