Lap of Love Veterinarian: Beth Meadow, DVM"As painful as Thursday was for us, I have to give the highest praise to the folks at Lap of Love Veterinarians in Fairfax. Dr. Beth Meadow came to our house to help Ellie through her transition, and she could not have been more caring, respectful, and sympathetic. She treated Ellie like a good friend, and was so gentle in everything she did. After the doctor left, we found that she had left behind for us a plaster cast of Ellie’s paw, and a small clear container with a bit of Ellie’s fur in it from where she had to shave a small patch on her leg. Ellie’s passing was very peaceful, and, as strange as it may sound, also beautiful."Allen McBrideWoodbridge, VirginiaMarch 24, 2017Ellie Mae's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Beth Meadow, DVM"There are incredibly difficult moments in life, ones you don't want to face alone. Having the understanding, comforting, relaxed presence of Dr. Beth with us for Phred's last hour was just the right touch. He got to stay in his home, in his favorite chair, with loving touches and words surrounding him. "Love Phred" was the first thing he heard when he joined our family and the last thing we said to him as he passed."Alexandria, VirginiaMarch 14, 2017Phred's Pet Memorial

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Beth Meadow, DVM"Dr Beth was so understanding & compassionate. She helped us through a very difficult situation as our dog bit my husband again. This time was bad. We had some bites from him from almost day 1. She helped us realized that our dog was suffering. It wasn't just about us. He deserved happiness & peace from the torment that he must have felt. All the fear & anxiety that he was going through. Thank you Dr Beth for helping us realize that. She told us that he knew we did the best we could with him & loved him. All the trainers we had to help him. We thought we were doing the best to keep him around. She was so respectful with his body. We cried & she hugged us. I will never forget how she helped us through this difficult situation. May she live a long, happy & prosperous life. She did a great deed."Susi BoudreauxAlexandria, VirginiaFebruary 27, 2017Anslie's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Nora Glaser, DVM"I had not expected to have to call Lap of Love so soon. Four months earlier they assisted with Fluffy's earthly departure. When Smokey's time came I knew I had to give him the same dignified peaceful treatment so called Lap of Love. Dr Nora was so thoughtful and helped make Smokey's last minutes peaceful and I will always appreciate that care and compassion."Jennifer SmithFairfax, VirginiaFebruary 13, 2017Smokey's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Nora Glaser, DVM"Dr. Nora assisted me last February when my 17-year-old cat, Emily, died. She was able to lessen the pain of that experience for me and I thank her for that. I was hoping I wouldn’t need to contact Lap of Love again for several years but on Christmas morning my little Kyra became ill. I contacted Lap of Love on the evening of January 24th. The following morning Dr. Nora came to help me again. This time I requested that Kyra spend her last moments on her favorite lounger in the sun room and she agreed it was exactly the right place. It was a warm, sunny day and there was a gentle breeze. Kyra died peacefully with the sun shining on her. Dr. Nora was exceptionally kind and compassionate."Herndon, VirginiaJanuary 31, 2017Kyra's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Nora Glaser, DVM"Dr Nora is an amazingly kind individual that allowed my dog to have the kind of send off that I thought he should have. I agonized over the where and when and lapoflove enabled me to customize this to my own desires. The end of life experience ended up being very special, and I will remember it always, even though it was a very sad day. I will be forever grateful to lapoflove and Dr. Nora for letting me say goodbye in the way that I thought was appropriate. My dog had a great send off and was happy as we petted him goodbye. RIP Django. You were loved almost as much as the love you gave."Jennifer MarcaWashington DC, District of Columbia (DC)January 8, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Nora Glaser, DVM"Just a quick note to express our sincere appreciation for the outstanding service provided by Dr. Nora and Lap of Love in northern Virginia area. We've had many animals over the years, so while the experience of having to euthanize a pet was not new to us, performing this procedure in our home was a revelation. The "in-home" experience eliminated the need and anxiety associated with the drive/visit to the vet and allowed all family members and our other pets to be present if they wanted. The dog we put down--Killian, a 13 year-old lab mix--has a remaining litter mate--Guiness--and these two dogs have never been separated in their entire lives, save the odd trip to the vet by one dog and not the other. On such occasions, the dog remaining in the house would pace and nervously await the return of the other. In using Lap of Love for the in-home euthanasia for Killian, I am convinced this allowed Guiness to process the event, accept it, and it eased the transition and grieving process. Guiness is her normal self. Dr. Nora was top notch, came prepared, was on time, but did not push the time-line, she listened to our pet stories, allowed each family member to express themselves, and only initiated the procedure when we were ready. Killian had as peaceful a death as anyone could hope for... we should all be so lucky. In sum, if given a choice, I will only opt for in-home euthanasia in the future. I highly recommend Lap of Love and will use them in the future."James HilburnAshburn, VirginiaJanuary 6, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Beth Meadow, DVM"The Veterinarian was so understanding. I was back and forth about euthanizing my son's cat and she was very patient with me. She received lab work from my primary Vet to assist me in to understanding what the road ahead might look like for my pet."DJ JenkinsWoodbridge, VirginiaJanuary 2, 2017Casper's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Beth Meadow, DVM"My veterinarian Dr. Beth was the most gentle, patient, and compassionate person possible from the moment she walked through the door to the moment she drove away. She made us feel very cared for and very important. She spent a great deal of time with us just petting Mr. Coco Puff and getting to know us. I was really fearful and dreading the euthanasia appointment, but she made it go as well as it possibly could. I believe that because of that I was able to be much more at peace with the experience than I thought I might be. It has helped make the grieving process easier.

Also I spoke with Ashley on the phone about 4 times during my ordeal. I am so grateful to have had her incomparable support, kindness, and tender voice in my ear advising and consoling me."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Beth Meadow, DVM"Our dear Hershey - (2-9-09 -12-19-16) our hearts our broken. You were taken from us too soon. We keep seeing you in every room, on every piece of furniture. The house is so quiet. We miss the dangling of the tags on your collar, the sound of your paws on the hardwood floors as you ran to the door to greet anyone who rang the doorbell, the bark (even though we found it annoying at the time), and just simply...your presence. Your absence is palpable. Letting you go was the hardest decision, we have ever had to make. We know it was the right decision, but that does not make it any easier. Laps of Love made the horrible process so much better. From the first call with Victoria, who took down all the information in the most dignified, kind way, to the daily phone calls to check in on us and Hershey, to the final night with Dr. Beth. Dr. Beth arrived with treats that Hershey devoured (even though her appetite was on the decline for the last week). She walked us through what would happen next, and even had to answer the door when the bell rang and Hershey tried to go see who was at the door, after the first shot was administered. Dr. Beth made this awful night so much better. She hugged me and reassured me that Hershey knew she was loved. I am so thankful that we did not have to do this in a clinical setting. Thank you, Dr. Beth and Laps of Love. Hershey, we love you and miss you with all our hearts. You will forever be our first doggie. Goodbye, our girl!"Ilona BirenbaumArlington, VirginiaDecember 21, 2016
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Nora Glaser, DVM"What an amazing group of people. I am very thankful for their caring support through this difficult time. I emailed Lap of Love on Wednesday Evening (after hours), my call was returned first thing in the morning, and Dr. Nora was at our house before 6 PM.

Dr. Nora was amazing with us. I could not imagine how difficult it would be to deal with family after family that are dealing with a loss of an animal. It is not easy walk into a strangers home, deal with family, and have to go through the process of putting down an animal.

Thank you Dr. Nora for caring for our mastiff Georgia Lee and supporting us as well."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Nora Glaser, DVM"My little Yorkie, Chanel was the love of my life for 16 yrs and letting her go was the hardest decision I have ever had to make. I discovered Lap of Love and made an appointment to have her assessed. Dr. Nora was so kind and loving and I felt comfortable with her from the start. She really helped me in making the decision by explaining the process and assured me that there would be no pain when Chanel passed. I was able to hold her in my arms and be in the comfort of our home when she took her last breath and that was very important to me. I wanted her to be in a familiar place when she passed. Chanel was such a pretty little dog; very loving, funny, a joy and just an adorable little Angel that was loved by many. She deserved the best and I always made sure of that. I can't thank Lap of Love and Dr Nora enough for the comfort, kindness and caring that was given to Chanel and I from the time I contacted them and through the whole process with Dr. Nora. I am so thankful I chose Lap of Love. You all are truly a blessing. THANK YOU!"Retta BrownReston, VirginiaDecember 8, 2016

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Beth Meadow, DVM"Dr. Beth (and Lap of Love) was absolutely amazing. She was a comfort to us and Harry and was so compassionate. My local Vet was originally scheduled to come to our house, but there was an emergency and she could not make it. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Christine Shibly, DVM"When we found out that our dear Lulu was riddled with cancer and suffering from a failing kidney, we knew the time we most dreaded had come. Last Friday night at about 10, we called Lap of Love and a very nice lady answered right away. We arranged for Dr Shibly to come to our house on Sunday at noon. After 36 hours of crying and fearing the moment when we'd say good-by to Lulu, Dr Shibly and a nurse (?) arrived at our house. Lulu was very happy to meet them and they were very kind to and interested in her. We talked to the doctor about our decision. She looked at the medical records and assured us that we were taking the most merciful course. Lulu was given a sedative and she gently fell asleep. I couldn't be there for her last breath, but my husband stayed. In the meantime, the doctor was fine with whatever our wishes were. Thank you for you gentle compassion and real concern."Liz DemarestWashington, District of Columbia (DC)November 2, 2016
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Christine Shibly, DVM"I was really nervous and emotional about the passing of my cat, but I think Dr. Christine did the perfect job of explaining what would happen and talking me through the decision. I knew it was the right choice but even so, you never want to have to make a choice like that. She comforted me in saying I did everything I could. I had put her in hospice care for a few days and I said I wish she had been with me during that time, and she just said there's no way I could have known whether she would come through or not, so that was still a good decision. We did it before her organs shut down and she felt more pain than she was in. And she was very gentle in the final moments. My parents also appreciated the things she said, and the care she gave. When we took her outside she helped me lay her into the ground, which I'm glad she did, because I think I needed the help. It was one of the hardest days of my life, and I'm thankful for everything she did and the way she did it. I'm sure Ina is thankful too."Maureen WalshSilver Spring, MarylandNovember 1, 2016Ina's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Christine Shibly, DVM"Our beloved Meatball passed away at the age of 16 after being diagnosed with oral cancer in July. While my husband and I only had 4.5 years with Meatball, we are forever thankful for the short time we had with her. Dr. Christine was amazing. She explained everything and let us be with Meatball for as long as we needed. Her compassion and kindness made Meatball's crossing the rainbow bridge so much easier. We miss Meatball terribly and are so grateful that we had her in our lives."Stacy CollinsAlexandria, VirginiaNovember 1, 2016
