Helping Families Honor the Lives Of Those They Love
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Erin Deveau, DVM"I found my sweet boy in August of 2009. My husband said I could get a little dog, no bigger than 20 pounds. He came into his new family at 100 pounds and grew to about 200 pounds. Helping him leave this world was going to be a large task. Thankfully, I found Dr. Erin Deveau, and "Lap of Love". Putting our furry children to sleep is the hardest thing in the world to do. Dr. Erin could not have been kinder, and made this task a bit easier. My sweet boy "Fatty", was so at ease having this done in his home surrounded by his family. I wish I had found this service for my other furry babies. After it was over, the wonderful people at "Best Friends" came and took my baby for cremation. Being that I will never be without furry kids, I will continue to use "Lap of Love". Thank you for offering this type of service, and for understanding that those of us that have animals truly believe they are one of our children, and should be treated as such. The photo of him is the first day that he came to his new mommy and daddy. He always thought he was a lap dog, don't they all."Denise ChristieAlbuquerque, New MexicoFebruary 12, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Suzanne Cosentino, DVM"In a letter I wrote to Dr Suzanne, I told her that I was not sure she was human. It felt as if she had been a guardian angel watching over us for years, who came to us when it was time for Stewart to make his journey. I really felt like she had known us for years and really understood what we needed to get through this.
Her compassion and dedication to our family during this experience was unlike anything I had ever known.
The main thing we wanted was for him not to spend his last moments on earth in fear at a vets office, which traumatized him every time we went. I can't begin to put in to words how relieved and comforted we were by having Dr Suzanne help him with his journey here in the home he knew, surrounded by the people he loved and trusted and adored him endlessly. It was truly a beautiful goodbye. He was not afraid and never showed any signs of pain or discomfort. We are so grateful to have had her here to guide us all through such an emotional time. Thank you Dr Suzanne!"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Alexandra Saura, DVM"Dr. Alexandra was wonderfully kind. We sat down and discussed options before deciding euthanasia was the kindest decision, and she talked me through the whole procedure before it happened. Afterward, she left me alone with Jeremy for a few minutes so I could grieve in private with him. I'm thankful for her kindness and professionalism and for being there for me when I had to say goodbye to my baby alone."Jennifer BatesBrooklyn, NYFebruary 12, 2017Jeremy's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Leann Sargeant, DVM"Leann was so kind, so patient, so loving-our Boomer went right to her, licked her, wagged his tail-it's like he knew she was there to help, not hurt.

She also helped us know that our decision was a good one, in spite of how hard it was to make at that time. The procedure was explained in detail and was followed to the letter.

Thanks again for providing a service that helped ease of hearts just a tiny bit."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Melanie Santspree, DVM"We knew the end was near for our beloved Lexi. We debated the best way to handle such a painful, delicate situation. After much discussion, it was decided that we would have someone come to the house to allow Lexi to pass peacefully, with her family, in her own home. After some online research, we found Lap of Love, and subsequently Dr. Melanie Santspree. This was such a blessing.

Dr. Mel came to our house and was so warm, compassionate, and comforting. She took what was probably the most difficult thing we've ever been through and made it as peaceful as possible. She was only at our house for an hour and a half, but me, my boyfriend, and Lexi all felt such a strong bond with her. There was a connection made that we were certainly not anticipating. It was so theraputic to talk to her beforehand as she assured us we were doing the right thing. We enjoyed telling her stories about Lexi and seeing that she genuinely appreciated hearing them. She allowed Lexi to pass peacefully, with grace and dignity, in one of her favorite spots in our home, with her family. For that, we will forever be indebted to Dr. Mel. It takes a truly special person to do the work that Dr. Mel does, and she is just that.

Jay and I give our highest recommendation possible to Dr. Melanie. She's a wonderful person who helped us through an immensely personal and painful situation. She handled it with class and compassion. Thank you Dr. Mel."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Tina Olivieri, DVM"Where do I even begin, my gratitude for Dr. Tina and all she does is so beyond words. It began before I even met her, from the moment I called Lap of Love the woman I spoke with on the phone knew Dr. Tina would be the prefect soul to come help my fur baby become an angel. On the day of, that morning I needed a little extra time and Dr. Tina was kind enough to push back her arrival to give me the time I needed. When she came to my home immediately I felt the deep love and compassion she has for her patients and their families. We sat together and talked about Lenny she took some time to show Lenny the love she so deserved. Her calm demeanor put me at such ease. There is nothing but love, peace and comfort that comes from Dr. Tina's soul. She truly was heaven sent to help guide my baby to the next part of her soul's journey. Dr. Tina gave me all the time I needed and was so very gentle in describing the procedure and how it would all go. The whole process couldn't have been more loving and peaceful. Dr. Tina was so delicate with my frail baby and put us all at such ease that my sweet Lenny cat was able to passed on so comfortably because we were all so calm. I've had prior experience with transitioning pets and nothing even came close to Dr. Tina! The stress you feel your animals absorb so being able to feel so calm and at peace is everything! Once she had passed Dr. Tina again did not rush the process of saying good bye and was so kind. No rush ever, no pressure, everything was just perfect. In the days and weeks following Dr. Tina continued to offer me unconditional support, care and comfort, thru her kind follow up emails, condolence cards and text, this woman is just full of light and love. Always there to calm and ease my heart and soul. In all the heartbreak and pain of losing my dear friend the one thing that truly continues to bring me peace and comfort is the way her passing went. I honestly can not imagine a more wonderful way for an animal to make their transition then with Dr. Tina. I have since told every local pet lover about her, including my vet, chiropractor, grocer, teachers and in various Facebook groups as I truly believe Dr. Tina has been sent from above to help our furry ones gain their wings. Thank you Dr. Tina and Lap of Love for all you do!"Cyan SattinLos Angeles, CaliforniaFebruary 12, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dawnetta Woodruff, DVM"Thank you Dr. Dawnetta and the whole team at Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice. They helped me make the most difficult decision on February 6th, 2017. To let my best little friend Woody (aka Woodrow Wilson) be at rest. They gave me strength by lovingly and honestly telling me it was time. I was so confused and their professional guidance made me brave for Woody. Dr. Dawnetta and Jeff came to my house where he was let go without pain, in my arms...his favorite place. I miss him so, but I know it was he right thing. He wasn't interested in eating anymore. Even refusing Greenies, which were his fave! He was the most proud, handsome, feisty, gentle, and loving fellow! I miss him..his face, those ears, his fluff, his snuggles...we hiked roughly 10,080 miles during our precious time together! I miss him...my beautiful little shadow. I am forever grateful for our time together, and our last moment on earth being so peaceful and pain and full of love. Woody and I thank Dr Dawnetta and all of the incredible people at Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice, St. Louis Area, LLC. He is at peace."Janice VirantSt. Louis, MissouriFebruary 11, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Dawnetta Woodruff, DVM"In all my imaginings, it never occurred to me that I would lose my beloved Grover. He had slipped on the ice and, I believed, had sprained his leg. I couldn't get him into my car because he couldn't put any weight on his front leg going up and down his ramp. I tried everything I could to alleviate his pad in, but finally called Lap of Love for a hospice visit, hoping that we could get him pain relief for at least 6 months. When Dr. Dawnetta visited and checked my sweet baby out, she concluded that he probably had bone cancer. I was stunned and horrified. I am so very grateful to Dr. Dawnetta for the pain relief she prescribed, but the bone cancer had progressed and metastisized and my sweet boy was in too much pain. I called and she came out and helped me say good-bye to my darling beloved pup. I will miss this marvelous dog for the rest of my life, but Dr. Dawnetta and her wonderful kind husband, Jeff, rescued us both when we were desperate."Cynthia HornbuckleSt. Louis, MissouriFebruary 11, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Brad Bates, VMD"Dr. Brad was so genuine and compassionate in his care for Reilly. He took the time to explain and confirm what we had be noticing, and to reaffirm to us that it was her time. As much as she loved people, our dog did not like going to the Vet. It made her so anxious. She was able to pass lying on the couch at home, surrounded by her family. She was so calm throughout. As sad as a day it was for us, we will be forever grateful for his tenderness to Reilly. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Lauren Cassady, DVM"Thank you Dr. Lauren for being so kind and comforting during this difficult time. I adopted Maya from a local vet while I was in nursing school. She was so tiny but had the biggest ears! She was such a sweet cat, and brought such liveliness to her brother Charlie. I was so fortunate to have her for twelve years, she was quite the lady, so beautiful, my "pretty girl". As like others, I struggled with the decision to help her pass, but as a nurse I knew it was time. Having you care for her in our home helped ease her into heaven."Chantel BrooksPine Lake, GeorgiaFebruary 11, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Katie Stender, DVM"When the time comes, every pet lover secretly hopes their furry companion will just peacefully leave them while in their sleep.

For whatever reason, not one of mine has ever left of their own accord and I have faced the struggle of:
"Is it too soon?"
"Is it too late and I'm being selfish to keep you with me?"
"Are you hurting more than you show, my beloved friend?"
"Is this a God decision and I should leave it in His hands?"
And the hardest one, "How can I drive you, my best friend, to a sterile office that always strikes terror, put you on a stainless steel table and watch a stranger stick a fatal IV in your front paw?"

When the weather turned cold around Christmas, and my 16 year old friend, Ziggy, took a very sudden turn for the worst, having a hard time to just get outside, I was faced with these heart-wrenching questions once again.

My struggle intensified because trips to the Vet with Zig were always traumatic. He'd work himself into such a frenzy, we needed to plan for an extra hour to cool his temperature down with ice packs, just to administer vaccines. I could image us both hysterical in our last moments together, as it had been 2 years ago for our 3rd BFF, Sadie.

Two friends and fellow pet lovers facing the same questions with beloved companions, had recently used an in-home vet, Dr. Katie. Calling her at Lap of Love was the best advice I had ever taken.

When Dr. Katie came, she examined Zig, answering all my questions and giving me the peace of mind that it was the right time. Her method and presence is so compassionate and unobtrusive, that Zig and my last moments together were so very special and intimate, unlike any previous experiences.

Ziggy peacefully fell asleep on our bed, lavished with petties and hugs, my last gift to him on this side of the bridge...

If you are asking yourself the questions I asked above, Dr. Katie may be your answer, as she was mine.

Thank you Dr. Katie. May love and light be with you wherever you go."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Lauren Cassady, DVM"We are so grateful for the care and kindness during a time of real grief in our house. Our sweet girl Daisy was calm and well-cared for, and she was allowed to leave us with grace and peace-- we will forever be grateful to Dr. Cassady for her genuine concern for us and for our precious friend. There is no easy way to lose a treasured companion-- Dr. Cassady made this transition as manageable as it could ever be, and we are so thankful for her care and assistance. Blessings to her and to the staff (Brie) at Lap of Love who took our phone calls and arranged for the visit. The greatest gift we can give our pets is to take care of them-- always-- and we were able to do our best because of Dr. Cassady."Janet HarveySmyrna, GeorgiaFebruary 11, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Betsy King, DVM"We just wanted to say thank you so much for the kindness you showed at a very difficult time for us. Sophie was almost 16 years old and declined rapidly within a matter of days. It was a shock to us but your care and tender heart helped us deal with the situation much easier. Thank you for your patience - it was like you grieved with us. Mere words can not express our gratitude."Dennis DasallaApex, North CarolinaFebruary 11, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kendra L. Healy, DVM"Dr Kendra Healy helped us shower our beloved Sophie Marie out of this world with love when we had to put her to sleep. It was a wonderful gift for such a lovely dog and a beautiful experience through all the pain and sadness. We knew the minute she answered our phone call that she would be a perfect person to help us and she turned out to be more kind, compassionate and thoughtful than we could have imagined. She was sensitive, understanding and capable. She helped decide that the time was right and things we might want to consider about where and how Sophie, and we, would be the most comfortable. It was incredible to be able to say goodbye to Sophie not at the vet clinic but laying beside her on her bed, while Dr Healy knelt beside us and whispered or was silent, at just the right time. The thoughtfulness, dignity and grace continued when she carefully moved Sophie to a beautiful stretcher with purple velvet fabric and took her to be cremated. She offered for us to call her anytime we needed someone to talk to, and I know that was an offer from her heart. She returned in a few days with a beautiful wooden box with Sophie's cremains and special keepsakes including a booklet on grief and plaster cast of her paw print. We can't say enough about how wonderful Dr Healy and Lap of Love are. They made a lasting, beautiful impression on our last day with our special pet."jim & mary nuckolsMidway, KentuckyFebruary 11, 2017

It can't be an easy job that you have so I want you to know how much we appreciated it. It made all the difference. Our phone conversation gave me the courage I needed to do the right thing.

I'm doing fine, I know it was her time and both of us had given everything to each other. Thank you for your love and strength."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jessica Jensen, DVM"This wonderful service was recommended by my pet hospital. They provide hospice and euthanasia services for pets in the comfort of their own home. Both Dr. Jessica and the receptionist were kind, compassionate and caring. Dr. Jessica gave me as much time as I needed to say goodbye to my loyal fur baby Brisby. I had been dreading this day for months; but as loving owners, we hope to make our pets' voyage over the Rainbow Bridge as peaceful and comfortable as possible, and "Lap of Love" is there to ease you through it. They gave me a paw print in plaster and a wisp of his fur to remember him by."Lisa SavyBoulder City, NevadaFebruary 10, 2017Brisby's Pet Memorial
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Nancy Rodriguez, DVM"Dr. Nancy,
It's been a few months since you came to our home and helped with Asher's passing. I wanted you to know how much we appreciated your compassion and kindness during his final moments. It was such a peaceful experience for us and we knew that Asher was feeling calm and loved as he went to sleep. We wished we had known about your service when we had our cat put to sleep last year.

I have given your name and mentioned the experience on many occasions to fellow pet owners.

Thank you so much for providing this service and providing it in such a meaningful way.

Best regards,
Laura"

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Kristina Kalivoda, DVM"After 19 years of companionship, the time had come. This was the first time I had to euthanize a pet and I was very anxious about the process. I found the Lap of Love website so helpful. It answered most of my questions surrounding this sad time.
But Dr. Kristina was the real gift...she came right when we were scheduled and explained everything so clearly. She helped Kitty move painlessly and peacefully from life to death. She is an extremely gifted veterinarian but also a gifted human being. I could not have asked for more...she gave our beautiful Kitty a peaceful transition and was very sensitive to how difficult this is for us owners.. Dr. Kristina, please continue to share your gift with others who are going through this difficult time. I hope you know how much I appreciated all you did for Kitty and for me."

Lap of Love Veterinarian: Jennifer Hawthorne, DVM"On January 20, we had to do the hardest thing ever for an animal lover. Diesel was our son, and we miss him every day, our routine is still hard without him. Dr. Jennifer Hawthorne was patient and kind. We are very thankful to her and for this service. The feelings of guilt are still there because we wanted to let him die naturally but when I found him in his urine the night before and he couldn't get up I knew it was time. He also didn't want to eat so that was hard for me seeing him with his labored breathing. Diesel suffered from arthritis in both hips, spinal fusion, and paralysis of the larynx. We always took him hiking, biking, and running, until he tore his tendon. From there it was downhill. 2 years ago he had surgery and came home with a Mersa infection. He was a tough dog but he was never the same after that. He was always an attention grabber. This photo was one of my favorites cause I was petting him and when I stopped he got up and put his head on my lap like u r not done petting me. The doctor said we would have aleast up to 5 more years but sadly it was more like 4 months, which makes it even harder. We were honored to have him for 9 1/2 years. He is missed every day. We love u Diesel."Sugeil JerezCharlotte, North CarolinaFebruary 10, 2017
Lap of Love Veterinarian: Juliana Lyles, DVM"Pet euthanasia service is something that you never desire to use although it is often times inevitable when you have a pet. After our beloved lab mix, Logan, was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer, we knew that our time together would be a few short months at most. We knew when that dreaded day came that we would have to say goodbye to our "dog child" that it would not be easy. Our hearts told us that the only way to spend our final moments together would be in the comforts of home with him surrounded by his toys and loved ones. After contacting a number of veterinarians that offered at-home service, Lap of Love was by far the most responsive and patient with our questions and concerns.
When the day came that Logan gave us the indication that he had lived life to the fullest and that he was ready to cross the rainbow bridge, we contacted Lap of Love. Dr. Michelle greeted us with a warm embrace and she could tell that it was an incredibly emotional day for our family. Her compassion and loving care with Logan was helpful to allow him to be comfortable with a stranger. She was patient with us while we embraced our treasured last moments with him. Dr. Michelle was a great listener as we told her Logan's life story. Before she began the sedation process, she let us have as much time as we needed with him to say our final goodbyes.
Dr. Michelle gave us step-by-step details of what she was doing until she informed us that his heart had finally stopped (which he held out as long as he could). She was genuine in her understanding about how terribly difficult this situation was for us. Her ability to express empathy and sympathy really helped us when we needed it the most. Dr. Michelle somehow made this excruciatingly painful process a little more bearable.
After the process was over, she provided us with a wealth of information about dealing with pet loss which was very helpful. We are grateful for her taking as much time as we needed, before, during and after the process to help us deal with the situation. To our surprise, later that day we received a eulogy from Dr. Michelle via email (and again later via mail). Unbeknownst to us, during those final moments Dr. Michelle had listened intently to everything we had said about Logan's life. She discussed many of the highlights of his life along with how much he was loved and how he will be forever missed. As hard as it was to read, she did a phenomenal job and it's something we'll forever cherish. It truly takes a special person to do what she does and she does it well.
Losing a family member is never easy although Lap of Love allowed us to say goodbye in a loving environment. Although there is never a happy ending in this situation, being able to spend those final moments with a dog we so dearly loved in the peace and comfort of his home producing the least amount of stress on all of us most importantly to him, is something we feel very fortunate to have had access to. Thank you Lap of Love for all that you do and for your follow through on how we're doing. Your services make this world a better place."

Dr. Kim talked me through this very difficult decision and was so caring for me and our dog Albert. Every step of the way and afterwards Dr. Kim was kind and caring. Lap of Love Veterinarian: Amanda Page, DVM"I never had to do anything like this before and really didn't know a service like this was available. Fortunately, I had the time to research this and found Lap Of Love. After reading the Bios on the local Drs, I knew Amanda was the only person I wanted attending to Lucky, and as fate would have it, on the day it was time for me to let Lucky go, she was on call. I knew that was God answering my prayers. From the first moment Amanda arrived, if felt like I was meeting as sister I never knew, and after talking with her and her meeting Lucky, I knew she was capable of carrying the weight of our sorrow. She set the tone of how this evening would unfold, and that was one of a celebration for the gift that Lucky was to us. I will always feel indebted to Lap of Love and Amanda for coming along side us in one of the most difficult times I could imagine."Ken GarciaAnaheim Hills, CaliforniaFebruary 10, 2017

Thank you"
